One of our tips on saving money is obviously to be more economical if your planning on enjoying cheap living. If you are going to be running errands, plan your trip so that there is a logical order to where you're going. Try not to double back or run all over town to accomplish what you set out to do. This will save time and save gas. Batch the errands into one day as opposed to running errands several days throughout the week. This will also cut down on the time you use to do you errands and will save gas. If you are up to it, you could consider public transportation, riding your bike or walking if some of the places you go to are within a short distance. Online Bill Pay Another one of our tips on saving money is to fire up your computer and pay your bills online. Most financial institutions now have online bill payment available. Here's how you do it. You will first need to set up your accounts. This is a breeze. You just need a list of your Payees, your account numbers and the mailing addresses for the companies and individuals. When you get a few bills, go online and go to the "Bill Payment" screen and enter the amounts and various dates you want your bills paid. When you have them all entered you click “make payments” and you’re done. Part of the beauty of this is being able to schedule the dates of payments. You may enter the payment one day and the payment is not made for another three weeks for instance. That way your bills are all paid at once. They're not paid too early or too late! They'll be out of the way and on time. You're also saving by eliminating the need for postage and envelopes. This should definitely be one of your strategies to save money and avoiding late fees. Packaged Services Bundle your telephone, cable TV and Internet connection with one provider if possible. It should be a lot less than the services individually. Also consider doing away with a landline entirely as mentioned previously. If you have a cell phone, do you really need your landline? Review your bills over a year and determine what plan would best match your usage. Check out your plans and and make a determination as to what is best for you. Then add this to your list of creative ways to save money. You can check this one off and move on to the next item. Satellite or Cable TV You’re probably a super busy person. Do you really need all of the cable or satellite programming that you currently have? You can probably cut some of the channels out, especially those premium ones. Evaluate what you and your family uses and cut it back if agreeable. Those premium channels cost a lot and frequently do not get watched. They sounded convenient to have when you signed up but are often forgotten. You may find that you could cut out cable or satellite programming entirely and watch rented programming on disc, or read a book. They have so many different kinds of shows available now on disc including tons to TV shows. While this may be a bit radical for hose that watch TV on a daily basis, it is nevertheless one of our frugal living tips that can save you money and is at least a consideration. Rent Movies Online One of our tips on saving money is to use an online movie rental service like Netflix. They are a great alternative if you rent movies frequently from your local movie rental place. Just a few clicks on their website and within a couple of days the moves are in your mailbox. You can also download them to your computer and route them to your TV with proper connections. At the movie rental site you have a list of movies in "your queue" that you have selected. You can add to that list anytime you think of a movie you want to watch. Even when movies are at the theater and not yet out on DVD, you can save them to your queue for later. They keep sending movies to you as you make returns. No driving to the movie store, wandering around looking for a movie and then driving back home. And they have many different programs to fit your frequency requirements. Go online and watch trailers, get an extended product description and read professional and amateur reviews to boot. If you do not rent that many movies then a local movie kiosks (like in McDonald's) may be more for you. Movies from the kiosk are pretty cheap and may fit better into your budget. It's not that difficult to make some adjustments in your lifestyle so that you can achieve more savings. All in all, these are tips on saving money that make so much sense and that you can accomplish.
