Practice Saving Money Tips
And Increase Your Bottom Line

Late Fees

There are many saving money tips that can benefit you. Making payments on time to avoid late fees is a good example of one of them. Most bills have late fees assessed if not paid on time.

Creditors will sometimes waive the late fees if it is the first time or even the second time if enough time has elapsed. But after that, late fees are due and payable. (Waiving of late fees is totally up to the particular company).

We recommend that you check into online bill payment which makes it a lot more efficient to pay bills on time. Not incurring fees is one of the easiest ways to save money that we know of.

Smaller House

Try to find a home that is not overly large in size. Even if you can afford a sprawling home doesn't mean you need that amount of space.

Live by time tested strategies to save money and live in a home that is comfortable for you and your family. You will probably save tens of thousands of dollars and be totally happy.

Sometimes a home can become overstuffed with furniture and accessories and just plain old stuff. Try to part with some of the clutter and items that you do not use. If you do you'll have more workable and livable space. Just think, you can enjoy a more clutter-free lifestyle.

Real Estate Taxes

The city that you live in periodically assesses the value of your home. They then send you a tax bill. Most cities allow homeowners to challenge the revised value that the city has placed on your home. If you feel like the local government has overstated the value, it may be worth going through the appeal process to get them to lower it.

If you can support your reasoning for a lower value with facts, then there is a chance that they will reduce your assessment. If they reduce your assessment that will of course reduce the taxes you owe. This is one of our saving money tips that can be a great way to cut your expenses and a nice accomplishment!

Plant a Garden

One of our saving money tips is to get back to nature. Do you have a yard that will accommodate a garden? Try gardening. It's a great inexpensive hobby. There are some upfront costs. Usually fencing is required (depending on your area) to-keep the deer and small animals out.

A tiller is a nice piece of equipment to till the soil at the beginning of the season and to keep weeds down during the growing season.

You will of course have the cost of the plants. But give it a shot! A successful garden will produce a nice crop of vegetables that your family and your friends can enjoy. This is one of our most rewarding saving money tips that's good for the whole family.

Extended Warranties

One of our practical money saving tips is to avoid buying extended warranties from retailers. This is what the salesperson is asking you to buy as you're checking out. This is frequently offered on electronic products and office equipment.

These warranties do provide LIMITED additional coverage beyond the manufactures warranty which could be useful. Although there are frequently exclusions and depreciation clauses that don't favor the consumer.

We know that this is a high profit item for the retailer and that's why they are major advocates of the warranty programs. It's a gamble either way, but we prefer to gamble that the product we're buying will hold out without any problems for the extended period. We recommend saving the money and forgetting the extended warranty.

There is one exception to this rule that we have found. If you buy a computer and you think you will need technical support beyond the warranty period, you might consider buying the extended support option.

That's only if you know for a fact that the computer company provides really good technical support. This will turn out to be good money saving advice if you require a lot of technical assistance.

Your Car

Here are some of our saving money tips regarding your car. In the long run you can save by using the cheapest gas, changing the oil regularly, changing the air filters, getting your wheels aligned and having proper tires inflation.

For the best economy, go with the smallest car that you're comfortable in. If you have to get major work done on your car, get bids from three mechanics. Ask them to use after market parts in their bid.

Follow regularly scheduled maintenance per the owners manual. Oil changes may only be required every 5,000 miles as opposed to the 3,000 miles as commonly referred to.

Avoid buying the "add on" items that are offered to you when your car goes in for maintenance. If they offer to replace your air filter for instance, just say no and then pick one up at the local auto parts store and drop it in yourself. This may take a little more time but is another way to enjoy cheap living.

Driving

When driving, try to follow these basic rules to save gas: Drive the speed limit and use cruise control if you have it. The cruise control is especially effective on flatter terrain. Avoid stop and go driving – keep moving. Try not to sit and idle in traffic. Accelerate slowly and smoothly.

Don’t carry extra weight anywhere in the car. Determine the shortest route to your various destinations. Use your air conditioning only when necessary. Follow these simple saving money tips and pocket some cash!
