Good Money Saving Advice Is To Save Whenever Possible
Power Strip
We have more money saving advice for you. Use power strips for groups of electronic components that are in your home. An effective type of power strip is the kind that has one "control" plug on the strip. This control plug is the on/off switch of the strip of outlets. Lets say you have all of your home entertainment equipment plugged into the power strip and you have the television plugged into the one "control" outlet on the strip. Then, when you turn your television off, all of the equipment goes off at the same time because it is controlled by the control outlet. If you don't turn all of the other devices off, they will continue to use energy in stand-by mode. So, what do you think about using a power strip? This is one of our money saving tips and will provide surge protection for your equipment as well. Put an end to the "energy vampires" that are zapping your energy bill. See our Energy Conservation Section for more home energy savings tips. Generic Prescription Generic over-the-counter and prescribed medicines are the same as the name brand ones if you compare the active ingredients. Ask the pharmacist and/or your doctor but we think they'll agree with our money saving advice. You'll get the same active ingredients at a fraction of the price. If you use a particular drug a lot, you may want to consider a reputable mail order source for the prescription. Buy in Bulk Here is one of the practical money saving tips that you need to watch for. Be ready for sales! When sales occur, bulk up on non-perishable and freezable items. You will find these items on sale at department stores, grocery stores, variety stores and warehouse stores. Warehouse stores don’t generally have sale prices on items. Instead they offer everyday low prices. That's why your better deal is sometimes on sale priced items at department-type stores. You'll need to do a little comparison shopping. People often only buy one or two of the sale-priced-item. Our money saving advice is to not miss the bargain opportunity. If you use the item a lot, stock up by purchasing several at the discounted price. There are also many bulk saving opportunities available that you will find while grocery shopping.
Eat Less Meat If you look at your receipt when you get home from the grocery store you will find that meat cost you upwards of 30% of the total bill. Try to cut back on your meat consumption by eating it less often and in smaller portions.
Instead eat more fruits and vegetables and substitute a good protein source for meat. Eating less meat is healthier for you and will not dominate your grocery budget. Bottled Water Bottled water has become kind of a fad and convenient way to carry water. The empty bottles represent another item of trash that is perfect for the recycling bin. A better way to save the planet and do some thrifty living is to buy a case of bottled water and when empty, reuse the bottles by simply filling with tap water. You can use the bottles over and over and can get a new case when the bottles become worn. Many cities have very good drinking water. If you don’t care for your drinking water consider a filtration system at the kitchen sink. High Interest Rates If you have outstanding debt, our money saving advice is for you to call your bank and credit card companies and request a reduction in the interest rate. They may not go along with your request but it never hurts to ask. Sometimes you have to tell them you are going to take your business elsewhere and request to speak to the supervisor to get anywhere. It’s amazing what you can get done when you simply ask the right questions.
