Grocery Savings Will Get You More For Your Money
Price per Piece All the little things count when you are trying to get the best grocery savings. This tip is pretty obvious but worth mentioning. When the grocery store prices produce by the piece, you want to buy the largest pieces that you can. It's just another way to get more for your money and practice frugal living ideas. Conversely, when produce is priced by the pound, you want to buy the smallest items available. You end up with more items at a lesser cost. For instance, if bananas are priced by the pound, you would be better off picking the smaller of the bunches. Your not likely to eat two bananas or two apples at one sitting and you will probable be satisfied with the smaller fruit. So why not get the smaller ones? You get more for less. Just good commonsense! In Season Items When certain fruit or vegetables are in season, their prices are naturally lower. Enjoy beautiful delicious produce at a fraction of the normal price by buying them when they are cheap. As a bonus, the produce is at the highest quality when plentiful and you save money. This does however mean that you don't always get exactly what you want when you want it. But you get used to going with the flow and enjoying what is available at that current time. It is the easiest way to save money! If oranges are cheap, enjoy eating oranges. If apples are in season, enjoy apples. Whatever the case may be, you're always on the look out to find the best bargains and save money on groceries. Lunchmeat Avoid buying lunchmeat at its high price per pound. This does not give you the best grocery savings. Instead cook a roast, ham or turkey in the oven. Then slice the meat for sandwiches. If you end up with too much, split it up and freeze it. It taste a lot better than processed lunchmeat. A little bit of extra time and you will save significantly! Merchandising Grocery stores are very good merchandisers. They put the common products that everyone needs in the very back of the store. Then you have to walk through a big portion of the store to get to the common items. I'm sure you know where this is going. You have to go right past all of those tempting treats you had hoped to avoid. Also be aware of those end caps that are so prominently displayed with yummy goodies that are so easy to give into. Free Grocery Coupons Getting grocery savings by using free grocery coupons is easier said then done. If you can find the time, by all means use coupons. They're much more attractive if you can find a store that has double coupons! There are two schools of thought on the use of coupons. If they cause you to buy items that you don't need, don't use them. If after the coupon is used the price is still higher then a similar or store brand product, then don't use them. But obviously if they save you a lot on various items you use, then take advantage of them. When used right, they can add to the many practical ways to save money! Out of Stock Grocery stores generally run their sale ads for seven days. Try to go to the store at the beginning of the ad cycle. Sometimes stores run out of sale goods by the end of the cycle and you are left with getting a store rain check. You then need to return to the store to get the item when it is back in stock. It's much more convenient to get it the first time around.
