Gardening By The Yard Provides
Serious Intrinsic Satisfaction

Garden Enjoyment

Do you think that gardening by the yard can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience? It is! It's great to be outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and working with nature to produce some great results.

Some people love gardening so much that they even do winter gardening.

The simplicity and satisfaction of being able to plant a seed or seedling

and then watch it spring to life from fertile soil. It is spiritually and mentally enriching.

The types of gardens are practically endless but organic vegetable gardening is our focus here. Organic vegetable gardening is becoming especially popular and it's no wonder.

People are looking for safer, better tasting vegetables that they can serve their family. And the savings by growing your own are obvious.

Just look at the price of vegetables in the grocery store not to mention the potential health threat that they pose! How do you know what has been sprayed on the produce your buying and will you be able to wash it off.

Make It Home Grown

Why not learn to grow better quality fresher vegetables right in your back yard that will be a fraction of the cost of what you get in your local grocery store?

Are you going to like a section of plants in your yard if you never have tried it? There are no guarantees.

Although we can report that there are a lot of people involved in planting, growing and harvesting organic vegetable that derive serious intrinsic satisfaction from these activities.

Once gardeners get involved with this hobby it frequently becomes a passion with an anticipation of spring's arrival so that planting can begin.

If gardening doesn't give you joy or it seems like work that you don't have time for, then it is probably not for you. You would be best off leaving your grass in place and enjoy that.

If, on the other hand you want to give gardening by the yard a try, it would be a good idea to start out with a small plot of approximately 30 to 40 square feet. It's a mistake to start off with a garden that is too big and you can't maintain.

Not only do you need the proper size, you'll also need to set aside the proper amount of time to tend to a garden each week. It takes time and a bit of learning to master organic vegetable gardening but can be very gratifying when you harvest, prepare and consume your results.

It is best to do some research on the web and pick up a couple of books. You will probably have some questions that need answered. What kind of garden do you want? Is my soil good enough for gardening? If you have poor soil then raised garden beds with the right garden fertilizer may solve that problem.

Organic Gardening?

But what is organic gardening you might ask. Simply put, it means that the gardener uses no chemical garden fertilizers or pesticides in the garden. The result of using natural fertilizers and organic weed control is that it is better for you and the environment.

It may take a little more time to do organic gardening by the yard and your crop may not be quite as large as those facilitated by chemical garden fertilizers and pesticides but the benefits are greater.

It is a more accomplished feat to be an organic gardener as opposed to being a gardener that uses chemicals if that matters to you.

Gardening by the yard is finding a patch of ground, usually close to your home with the proper amount of sunlight to grow vegetables.

Tools you will need include a sharp spade with a flat bottom, a rake, a hoe and a fork with spread tines for working and turning the soil.

In addition to good tools you will need good soil amended with a natural garden fertilizer, availability of water, and enough personal interest to keep you motivated to enjoy your production.

Gardening by the yard is one of the most popular hobbies and past times that spans all continents and nationalities. It can go from being a small container on a sun lit balcony to a 4' x 8' raised garden to acres of organic vegetable gardening.

Whatever works for you is the best. So get your plan together and see if you experience the same passion that is reported by so many that are successful at gardening by the yard.
