The Easiest Ways to Save Money
Is To Follow Your Common Sense

Post Holiday Shopping

One of the easiest ways to save money is to do your shopping after the holidays. This is not to say that you don’t celebrate holidays with gifts.

It simply means to go shopping to pick up some of the basic items you would generally need for the next year.

Wait a couple days after the holiday is over and then go to the stores and you’ll find money saving bargains everywhere. Stock up and save on things that don't go out of style!

Magazines

Do you have magazine subscriptions? Are there a lot of magazines lying around in various places of your home? If you find that you don’t have enough time to read them or better yet decide you don’t need them – call and cancel the subscriptions. If you ask nicely they might even refund you the balance on the subscription. It is these little money saving ideas that really add up over a years time.

Free Events

Many municipalities have facilities that are available to use for free. Playing fields, tennis and basketball courts, riding and walking trails, large open fields for Frisbee, playgrounds and much more. Sometimes the best things in town are close by and they're all for free. Also check the city calendars and see what other free events are scheduled.

These are some of the easiest ways to save money! There are many clubs that offer activities for non-club members. For instance, biking clubs offer scheduled rides throughout the season for members and non-members alike. These sometimes have a minimal fee to participate but usually not much. Check it out. It's good exercise and a lot of fun!

Public Transportation and Carpooling

Take advantage of the public transportation in your area. It is a lot cheaper than driving your car and you don't have to worry about a parking place. Check into transportation passes. They can pay for themselves in short order. Is there anyone that lives in your area that works close to where you work? You could alternate driving every other day.

Do-It-Yourself Maintenance

Another one of our frugal tips is to do your own maintenance. Don't be afraid to perform some regular maintenance on your home and your car. Most manuals explain what needs to be done on a regular basis and a little preventative maintenance goes a long way.

You can easily prevent a major failure from occurring if you take care of what you own yourself. There are even some colleges that have courses available to learn how to maintain your home and car. You could gain some knowledge and save some green at the same time. You will find that this is one of the easiest ways to save money.

Home Energy Conservation

There are so many tips to save money on utility bills. We have a dedicated Energy Conservation section that goes over that in detail.

Eat Right

Try to eat a minimum of three meals a day. Some even say that six smaller meals is better for you.(who's got the time for that!) Having breakfast gets your metabolism going which will help keep you from overeating at lunch.

Have a reasonable lunch and dinner and you're practicing the basic steps to a healthy diet. Eating more regularly will keep you from overeating and cut down of the amount you eat. This is not only healthier for you but will also save you money.
