Crockpot Cooking With Versatility
Handy Crockpot Full-fledged crockpot cooking doesn't have to begin the minute that you get your new appliance. Towards the end of the simmer time you shred it with a fork and add barbecue sauce. Let it simmer on low for a while longer and you have yourself the makings of some great BBQ beef sandwiches. UMM! Now, that's crock pot cooking, or should we say warming with no need for a crockpot recipe. Lets say you were in a hurry and you wanted to take your famous chicken noodle soup to a party. The problem is you only have a couple of hours to get it ready. You could start your soup recipe on top of the stove and get it most of the way done. When it has about 30 minutes left convert it over to the crockpot. Take it to the party, plug it in and you're ready to go! It will be perfectly done in no time. Warmer For that matter, just about any kind of soup can be warmed up in the crockpot. Just put it in on the warm setting before you leave for work and it will be ready for you when you get home. However, crockpots should not be used for thawing frozen items. The thawing process will take so long that there is a risk of food contamination. But warming foods works in a lot of circumstances. Once your food is warm, make sure that you have it on an adequate heat setting for safety purposes. In most cases it takes a long time to just heat food up and we recommend that you put the crockpot cooking container into the microwave for pre-heating. Once hot, move it back over to the slow cooking appliance for continued heating. Experiment with easy crock pot recipes to see what kind of results you get. You can test different simple recipes to start with and also see how your appliance works as a support warmer. So crockpots do serve more than one purpose. They offer great backup and are a very useful warming tool as well as an entire meal-cooking appliance with tons of recipes available.
