Slow Cooker Popularity

Have you ever done any crockpot cooking? If you don’t have a slow cooker of some kind, your mother probably does. Did someone put it away in the attic? If you can't find the one that you thought was stashed away, it may be time to get a new one and try some crockpot recipes!

Crock pot cooking has been around for a long time and now we are seeing a return to its popularity. Reasons for a renewed interest are due to its efficiency, the cost savings that come from its use and its versatility.

Believe it or not, it's estimated that over 40 million crockpots are being used in the United States and many are being used several times a week. It is also reported that millions are being sold every year. Now that’s a lot of slow cooked crock pot meals!

The Rival Company in 1971 introduced the Crock-Pot. They rolled out one model that came in a choice of lovely copper, harvest gold and avocado.

The crockpot, having enjoyed a modest existence since its introduction, is a very simple device. A porcelain or ceramic pot rests inside an outer container. The outer shell contains a heating element that provides a consistent and slow amount of heat. The heat is regulated by a simple temperature control. A lid, of course is provided, some of which have clamps to secure it into position.

Consistent Heat

Thanks to the sealed insert and consistent heat, food cooks unusually well by this method. The result of crockpot cooking is extremely tender and flavorful dishes with thousands of slow cooker recipes available.

You might ask how anyone can get fine meals out of such an unsophisticated appliance. It's almost mind boggling to get food that is so good from something so simple. Give it a try and see for yourself! There are tons of easy crock pot recipes too!

Crockpot recipes and cooking is appealing to all segments of the population and it works well for those that want a good healthy meal but don't want to slave over simmering pots and a hot ovens. In addition, the clean up is simple! Slow cooking is also great for anyone that is on a tight schedule and doesn't want to eat prepared or convenience foods.

Easy

There is very little to do when it comes to crockpot cooking. From some of the simpler crockpot recipes…just cut up a few vegetables and some meat. Add water and seasonings. Put the top on…and dial in your desired temperature and you’re off for the day.

Arrive at home later that afternoon and be greeted by a home filled with tantalizing aromas. It's ready to serve! How much easier can it get?

So if you haven’t used one in a long time…look deep in the pantry, cabinets or basement…dig it out and give it another shot. If you don't have one, pick one up at the discount store. There are several models to choose from and they range in price from about $20 to $50. If price is not an object, there are more expensive ones at high-end appliance stores.

You can easily recoup your investment by making tasty meals with less expensive ingredients then those used in more conventional cooking. Overall slow cooking is an inexpensive cooking method.

We are all aware that groceries are very expensive, especially meat. And we spend a good part of our income on eating whether it is out at a restaurant of at home.

Eating at home is much more economical but who wants to spend a lot of time in the kitchen after a full days work? The answer is crockpot cooking. Think of how much you can save on your food bill and the time your will save in the kitchen.

Crockpot cooking is very energy efficient as well. The newer models only cost a fraction of what it costs to operate any other type of cooking equipment. It's due to the fact that they cook at very low wattage. This even accounts for them being turned on for eight to ten hours.

Slow cookers delivers great comfort food and there is no time better to enjoy comfort food with family and/or friends sometime this week. So give it a try and see if you don’t agree that this method delivers very satisfying and delectable meals at a reasonable cost!
