Excellent Crock Pot Recipes.

Apple Brown Betty

3 lbs. cooking apples

10 slices of bread, cubed (about 4 cups)

1/4-tsp. nutmeg

1/2-tsp. cinnamon

3/4-cup brown sugar

1/8-tsp. salt

1/2-cup butter or margarine, melted

For great apple brown Betty. Peel and core apples and cut into pieces. Arrange them in the bottom of the crock pot. In a medium size bowl mix together the remaining ingredients. Pour the bread mixture over the apples. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 4 hours.

Apple Brown Betty. Yield 6 to 8 servings.

2 lbs. beef stew meat

3 tablespoons olive oil

1-cup onion, sliced

1/2-cup chopped green pepper

1/2-teaspoon salt

1/8-teaspoon pepper

2 cups beef stock

1 large clove garlic

3 tablespoons cornstarch

1, 8 oz. can tomatoes

1, 4 oz. can mushrooms

1/3-cup barbecue sauce

1/4-cup cold water

For great beef stew. Sauté the onion, garlic and pepper in olive oil. Add the remaining ingredients, except the water and cornstarch, to the crock pot. Combine well by stirring. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

Just before serving the beef stew, mix together the water and cornstarch. Stir into the stew to thicken. Will thicken upon setting.

Serve over a bed of rice.
